A NEW GARDENER: Henrietta “Hatta” Byng has been named the editor of U.K. House & Garden.
She is currently deputy editor of the publication.
“Hatta’s experience makes her perfectly placed to take on the role of editor of Britain’s leading international design and decoration media brand,” said Nicholas Coleridge, president of Condé Nast International and managing director of Condé Nast Britain. “Hatta has the respect of the interiors industry, together with that of her colleagues at House & Garden.”
Byng began her career at U.K. House & Garden in 2006, when she was hired as its features editor and then was promoted to senior features editor in 2010. Prior to that, she worked as an interior designer and at the South African edition of House & Garden.
She will begin her new position in October, following the retirement of Susan Crewe, who was at the helm of U.K. House & Garden for more than 20 years.
“I feel honored to be asked to take this magazine forward, leading its talented team and shaping its contents,” said Byng. “It is a privilege to be filling the very large shoes vacated by the legendary Sue Crewe.”
