GQ Names Next Class of Best New Menswear Designers in America

For the third year in a row, each of the winners will design a capsule collection for Gap in select stores globally, as well as online, to debut in September.

GQ’S STAMP OF APPROVAL: GQ’s new class of the Best New Menswear Designers in America program has been revealed. Now in its eighth year, the magazine chose four up-and-coming designers including Daniel Lewis of Brooklyn Tailors, Rob Garcia of En Noir, John Elliot of John Elliott + Co. and John Moore of M.Nii. For the third year in a row, each of the winners will design a capsule collection for Gap in select stores globally, as well as online, to debut in September. The four brands will also be featured in GQ’s April and October issues, and provided with a $10,000 prize.

“This initiative is to make these names as household as we can,” said the magazine’s creative director, Jim Moore.

In years past, the publication named one winner, but changed its format two years ago. “We wanted them all [to have] the chance to do a bigger collection for Gap,” Moore said. Past winners include Alexander Wang and Billy Reid.
