SHOPPING ORANGE: Gilt partnered up with Dress for Success and the Netflix series “Orange is the New Black” on a special sale that will correlate to the second episode of the show’s second season. The sale is inspired by a mock job fair where inmates received both professional attire and career advice from Dress for Success, an organization that provides professional attire for disadvantaged women.

“We’re constantly seeking new ways to excite Gilt members and give them an insider experience,” said Jyothi Rao, executive vice president and general manager of women’s, kids, and strategic brand alliances at Gilt.  We’re big fans of ‘Orange is the New Black’ and thrilled to collaborate with Netflix on the release of the new season and to let Gilt members see the show’s stars in a more glamorous light. We’re also longtime supporters of Dress for Success, so excited to tie the partnership together with such a compelling philanthropy angle.”

“Getting out of the prison garb to going into nice clothing was great,” said Dascha Polanco, who plays Dayanara Diaz on the show. “When we get to go outside of our prison garb we can really embrace our beauty. Because every day we see each other without makeup, in our little scrubs, without our hair done, and when we have these shoots like at Gilt, we get to express ourselves and dress up in high fashion clothes and shoes, while giving back—in a creative way.”

The sale includes items modeled by some of the cast including Diaz, Taylor Shilling (Piper Chapman), Danielle Brooks (Tasha Jefferson), Laura Prepon (Alex Vause), Taryn Manning (Tiffany Doggett), and Selenis Leyva (Gloria Mendoza). For every item purchased on the site, one item will be donated to Dress to Success.
