FROM RUNWAY TO REVIEW: The step from the runway to the front row may be physically short, but it can be extremely difficult, professionally speaking. Well-known in the fashion business as a brainy beauty, Nineties model Nadège du Bospertus has taken that step and was spotted sitting front row at several shows in Milan in her role as fashion writer for Italian monthly fashion magazine Amica.
“It has been a great yet challenging experience,” said du Bospertus, who predicted she’ll give excellent reviews to Roberto Cavalli, Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, Versace and Alberta Ferretti. “One thing is to just attend a show, another thing is to go and take notes, being aware that you must pay a lot of attention because after that you have to write something.”
Du Bospertus will write a “sort of diary from Milan fashion week,” as she described her assignment, which will run in the Italian magazine’s November issue.
“When I’m at the shows, I also tend to judge the models,” said du Bospertus, who was part of the jury on modeling reality TV show “Italian Next Top Model.” “The new models have nothing in common with the ones from my generation. There is no expression in their faces, they look like robots — and probably the designers ask them to act like that. But I don’t think it’s correct, because fashion should communicate a sense of happiness and make people smile.”
