Michael Kors made the list for the first time, coming in at No. 1,565 with a net worth of $1 billion. Other new additions from the fashion and beauty worlds are Jane Lauder, incoming global brand president of Clinique (No. 1,442) with a net worth of $1.15 billion and Aerin Lauren Zinterhofer, who runs her own brand Aerin, (No. 1,465) with a net worth of $1.1 billion.
They are in good company. Others once again on the list are Tadashi Yanai, head of Japan’s Fast Retailing Co. (No. 45 ) with a net worth of $17.9 billion; Giorgio Armani (No. 129), with a net worth of $9.9 billion, and Ralph Lauren (No. 191), with a net worth of $7 billion. Leonard Lauder, chairman emeritus of The Estée Lauder Cos., Inc.. came in at No. 177, with a net worth of $7.5 billion. Other designers making the list are Miuccia Prada (No. 102), worth $11.1 billion, and Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, who both came in at No. 1,078, with a net worth of $1.65 billion.
Christy Walton, Jim Walton, Alice Walton and S. Robson Walton, of the Wal-Mart fortune, occupy Nos. 9, 10, 13, and 14 on the billionaires’ list, with net worths of $36.7 billion, $34.7 billion, $34.3 billion, and $34.2 billion, respectively.
Others from the spheres of beauty and fashion include Liliane Bettencourt (and family), L’Oreal’s 91-year-old French matriarch (No. 11), who is worth $34.5 billion; Leslie Wexner, chairman and ceo of Limited Brands, parent of Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works (No. 244), with a net worth of $5.7 billion; Phil Knight, co-founder and chairman of Nike Inc., (No. 42), who is worth $18.4 billion, and Philip (and Christine) Green, ceo of the Arcadia Group (No. 270) who is worth $5.2 billion.
In addition, Bernard Arnault, chairman and ceo of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA and family (No. 15), is worth $33.5 billion, and Francois Pinault and family (No. 58), is worth $15.5 billion.
The list also include Silas Chou ($2.4 billion), Lawrence Stroll ($2.4 billion) as well as Li & Fung’s William Fung ($2.5 billion) and Victor Fung ($2.3 billion).
The top three spots on the list are occupied by Bill Gates (No. 1) at $76 billion, Carlos Slim Helu (No. 2) at $72 billion, and Amancio Ortega, founder of Zara, (No. 3) at $64 billion.
