Entertainment Weekly Ramping Up Fashion Coverage on Web Site

A new channel on ew.com will go behind the scenes of celebrity style in TV shows, movies and on the red carpet.

EW’S FASHION SEARCH: Entertainment Weekly has made a few hires from the fashion world over the past few months: first hiring Bronwyn Barnes from InStyle and then taking publisher Karin Tracy from People StyleWatch, so it will come as no surprise that the title is not only looking for more fashion ad pages but producing more style-related content. Up next: a new channel on ew.com that goes behind the scenes of celebrity style in TV shows, movies and on the red carpet.


The Style & Design channel’s logo looks a little familiar (paging Time magazine’s fashion supplement), but the content is all original to EW. Recent stories include red-carpet coverage of the Emmys, 50 steamy lingerie scenes and the home and office decor from the set of “The Good Wife.” “The set decorator has her own blog, and fans are obsessed with her,” said Barnes. “We are looking behind the scenes at the shows people want to know more about.”


Barnes said the channel is called Style & Design so readers don’t think it’s just about fashion. When editors do touch on the topic, it’s in a style unique to EW. For example, readers wanted to know about the underwear worn on “Girls,” so Barnes spoke with Allison Williams about it. In the show, it turns out Williams’ character, Marnie, wears underwear from Calvin Klein and DKNY. One can only imagine it won’t be long before both brands get a call from EW’s ad team.
