NEEDLEMAN'S HIRE: Deborah Needleman continues to add to her editorial team at T: the New York Times magazine with familiar faces from the Wall Street Journal. Following Whitney Vargas and Patrick Li, her two deputies at the Journal, Needleman's latest hire is Malina Joseph Gilchrist, who was the senior market editor at Off Duty. While at the Journal, Needleman had oversight of both the weekly Saturday section and WSJ. magazine. Gilchrist starts Feb. 20 as Needleman has already premiered her first T and closed the men's issue, out in March. Before the Journal, Gilchrist was a bookings editor at Elle. Meanwhile, Kristina O'Neill has raided Hearst for her new photo director, Jennifer Pastore, who was most recently a contributing photo director at Harper's Bazaar. Pastore was at Teen Vogue for four years starting in 2008, but she had also done stints at the Times' T much earlier in her career.
