MIDDLE EAST MOVE: Condé Nast International is bringing its Condé Nast Restaurants business to the Middle East, with the opening two new ventures in Dubai.
A Vogue Café will launch later in 2012 in The Dubai Mall, while in 2013 a GQ Bar will open in a five-star hotel in the country. The Vogue Café and coffee lounge is intended to cater to local residents and will not serve alcohol, while the GQ Bar will serve an international clientele and will offer alcohol as permitted by Dubai law, Condé Nast said, as do most hotels in the region. The new ventures will be opened in partnership with Inspired Group, a Middle East food and beverage management company, and the joint operating partner for Dubai’s Vogue Café will be Ginza Restaurants.
Stuart Nielsen, director of Conde Nast Restaurants, said: “Vogue Café Dubai is our first step into the Middle East market, and together with the GQ Bar, forms an integral part of Conde Nast International’s strategy to expand its celebrated media brands into restaurants and bars around the world,” he said. “We are working with the best local partners in Dubai, and will absolutely respect the laws and values of the land.”
The news of the Middle East openings follows Condé Nast’s announcement of a GQ Bar in Istanbul, which will open in November and a Vogue Café in Kiev, Ukraine, set to open in early 2013. A Vogue Café, GQ Bar and Tatler Club have already opened in Moscow.
