NEW PRESIDENT: Anita Gigovskaya has been named president of Condé Nast Russia, Jonathan Newhouse, chairman and chief executive officer of Condé Nast International, said Tuesday.
Gigovskaya will take up her role in January and succeeds Karina Dobrotvorskaya, who earlier this month was tapped as president and editorial director, brand development, of Condé Nast International.
“Anita is a driven, accomplished operator who rose through the ranks and has mastered every facet of the business. She has played a key role in Condé Nast’s growth in Russia and is the clear choice to lead the company,” Newhouse said.
Gigovskaya is currently vice president and commercial director of Condé Nast Russia, a role she has held since March 2011. She started her career in 1998 as a personal assistant at Vogue, and was eventually named managing editor of the title.
In 2002, she was named editor at large of Architectural Digest, as part of the launch team. The following year, she created the marketing department of Condé Nast Russia, and spearheaded the launch of Glamour magazine in 2004. She became publisher of a rival publication, Elle, but returned in 2009 to run Condé Nast Russia’s digital division.
