CITIZENS CINEMA: Citizens of Humanity is going Hollywood. The Huntington Park, Calif.-based denim brand has kicked off a yearlong series of short films featuring “creative visionaries” and their thoughts on the creative process with a three-minute video starring ballet legend Mikhail Baryshnikov and a second with Citizens founder Jerome Dahan caught in the act of jeans design. Before it’s done, the “Just Like You” series should number more than 20 films, all directed by documentary filmmaker Jared Freedman, who’s Citizen’s creative director of strategic branding. Citizens created a limited-edition T-shirt from dance photos shot by Baryshnikov. The tops will be sold at citizensofhumanity.com, with the proceeds, and a little extra directly from Citizens, earmarked for The Baryshnikov Arts Center. Upcoming subjects will also collaborate on special T-shirts and designate beneficiaries of their own.
