IN FULL BLOOM: Bloomberg Pursuits’ digital spin off has made a few pursuits of its own.
The luxury-oriented publication’s Web site, headed by Chris Rovzar, has hired Esquire’s senior fashion market editor Nic Screws, Tejal Rao from Tasting Table, Justin Ocean from Yahoo Travel and Stephen Pulvirent.
Screws, who joins Bloomberg on August 25, has worked at the Hearst-owned Esquire for the past six years, contributing to its “Big Black Book” as well as online coverage. She has also styled for the New York Rangers and the NFL. Rao will join Screws on the same day and will become the publication’s newest food editor and restaurant critic. Previously, Rao was a New York restaurant critic for the Village Voice, where she won a James Beard award.
Ocean and Pulvirent started their new stints today. Ocean is the site’s deputy editor, while Pulvirent is associate editor.
“We hunted down these gifted luxury journalists from a mix of established legacy brands and digital-native operations,” said Rovzar, head of the Bloomberg Pursuits’ digital spin off. “These days, great talent is nurtured in many different environments, and as we grow aggressively here at Bloomberg Media, we’re seeking to tap into as many of those as we can.”
The spin off will be launched in early 2015 with an anticipation that the quarterly print version will become bimonthly by the end of the year.
