Women’s Wear Daily has gone mobile with an updated iPhone edition that is available in Apple’s app store.

The application includes up-to-the-minute news posts and slideshow extras. Once downloaded, the app will reside in Newsstand and every morning at 3 a.m., that day’s paper will appear.

The iPhone edition is similar to the one already available on the iPad, with both versions anchored in the daily content published in the print and digital editions. The iPhone app has only been on sale a few weeks but so far it’s tracking well ahead of the iPad launch with 60 percent more downloads and 85 percent more orders.

“It is our goal to deliver the news in whatever form our audience needs,” said Edward Nardoza, editor in chief of WWD. “As industry leaders and decision-makers, our readers need to be able to access WWD immediately, easily and from anywhere. The new iPhone edition furthers our ability to keep them connected with our news and fashion coverage throughout the day.”

Print and online subscribers receive the iPhone and iPad editions for free as part of their subscription. Non-subscribers can purchase a bundled WWD subscription that includes print, digital, iPad and iPhone for $169. An iPad and iPhone subscription is $129.99 for the year or $12.99 a month.
