EBAY TO ACQUIRE BRAINTREE: EBay inked a deal to buy global payment platform Braintree in a roughly $800 million bid to better the mobile payment experience. The solution will operate as a service within the eBay-owned PayPal, which projects its mobile payment volume will exceed $20 billion by year’s end.

SKYPE TO PARTNER WITH BECKHAM:
Victoria Beckham is partnering with Skype on a collaborative project that will highlight five years of her brand and designs — the first move into fashion by Skype, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2011 and logged nearly 300 million users in June.

PINTEREST ENHANCES ARTICLE PINS: On its blog this week, Pinterest said article pins will have a new look, including a story description, headline, author and a link on the pin.

GOOGLE TURNS 15:
The search engine giant, founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page, turned 15 years old Friday.

FACEBOOK STOCK SOARS: Facebook’s stock closed over the $50 mark on Sept. 25 for the first time ever since the social platform went public in May 2012, with an IPO offer price of $38 a share.

CFDA AND VON FURSTENBERG DO GOOGLE: The Council of Fashion Designers of America is working with the search engine giant on a new experience that will allow users to purchase from a Google+ Hangouts on Air app starting Oct. 3, with Diane Von Furstenberg unveiling the app that evening from her New York City studio.

BOXHOP ENHANCES INTERNATIONAL E-COMMERCE:
Borderfree is enhancing international e-commerce options for overseas consumers through a new program called BoxHop, a parcel forwarding service where consumers from 74 countries can become a member and create a unique U.S. shipping address connected with their membership.

BLACKBERRY SIGNS TAKEOVER DEAL, REVEALS Q2 RESULTS: Blackberry said it lost almost $1 billion in the second quarter, following news on Sept. 23 that the technology company signed a letter of intent with its largest shareholder Fairfax Financial Holding and agreed to a $4.7 billion buyout.

APPLE SEES RECORD SALES: According to reports, the iPhone 5S and 5C sold nine million units, nearly double the five million sold during the first weekend after the iPhone5 was released.

KENZO DESIGNS CASE FOR NEXUS 7: Google has tapped Kenzo to design a cover for its sleek tablet, the Nexus 7, and the custom-made clutch will go on sale via a limited-edition of 50 pieces at Kenzo’s e-boutique for about $115, on Oct. 1, two days after the brand’s spring show.
