NASTY GAL’S MOVE FROM E-TAILER TO BRAND: Nasty Gal, which this week unveiled its own line of footwear and revealed plans to launch intimates and swimwear for next year, looks to become one of the first online pure-plays to transcend its roots and become a fully developed fashion brand.

YAHOO TOPS GOOGLE IN TRAFFIC: ComScore said Thursday that Yahoo.com saw more visitors than Google.com last month — 4.3 million to be exact. That boosted the image of Yahoo chief executive officer Marissa Mayer, who has spearheaded a slew of changes over the past year.

CONDÉ NAST AND AMAZON’S SUBSCRIPTION DEAL:
Amazon.com and Condé Nast inked a deal which includes the sale of the publisher’s magazine subscriptions through the online giant’s “1-click” shopping platform.

GOOGLE VENTURES’ UBER FUNDING:
On-demand car service Uber raised more than $360 million, with Google Ventures leading the fund-raising round, contributing $258 million. The transportation service is now valued at an estimated $3.5 billion. 

HEARST’S NEW DIGITAL EDITORS: Hearst Magazines tapped Amy Odell, who just launched Buzzfeed Fashion in July, as the editor of Cosmopolitan’s Web site. The publisher also hired Leah Chernikoff, the editorial director of Fashionista, to join Elle.com in a similar capacity.

NASDAQ’S TECHNOLOGICAL GLITCH: Technological issues caused Nasdaq to shut down trading for more than three hours Thursday, with trading resuming around 3:30 in the afternoon.

PRICEGRABBER ACQUIRES SNAPETTE: Price-comparison shopping site PriceGrabber scooped up location-based app Snapette, which taps into the smartphones of on-the-go consumers and updates them on new deliveries, sales and events at nearby stores.

EBAY NOW TAPS RICHARD CHAI: EBay wants to bring its local eBay Now shopping service to the fashion world and is getting some help from Richard Chai. The designer created the Richard Chai for eBay Now tote, featuring the same blue print that will be part of his upcoming spring 2014 collection.

DIESEL USES TUMBLR TO CAST CAMPAIGN:
Diesel artistic director Nicola Formichetti turned to Tumblr and word of mouth to cast the brand’s new ad campaign, selecting 20 people, mostly New Yorkers, who work in artistic fields. Tattoos, varying body shapes and sizes and colored and shaved heads abound. 

STEVE BALLMER TO LEAVE MICROSOFT:
Following Microsoft’s reorganization plan, which was revealed last month, longtime chief executive officer Steve Ballmer will retire in the next year, staying on board until the company hires a successor.
