From an Hermès scarf to a vintage Porsche to a meeting with Mayor Michael Bloomberg, contemporary designers are dreaming big this holiday season as they pack for ski trips to Aspen and tropical Hawaiian getaways. After an extremely challenging year, designers appear ready to break out and live it up a little.

SHOSHANNA GRUSS, Shoshanna

What do you have planned for the holidays?
“We are going to be in Aspen and then Deep Water Cay in the Bahamas.”

What will you wear?
“In Colorado, I’m planing on doing lots of skiing, so my Moncler jacket. Otherwise, Anlo jeans, my Sergio Rossi over-the-knee boots and lots of oversize Helmut Lang sweaters. On New Year’s Eve, I’m planning to wear a black one-shoulder jumpsuit from my collection, with a giant gold and crystal Lanvin necklace. In the Bahamas, I am praying for great weather, so hopefully lots of Shoshanna bikinis.”

What gift are you hoping to get this year?
“As long as my family and friends are happy and healthy, I don’t need a thing.”

What do you have planned for the holidays?

“We are going to Aspen for a week and then to Kona in Hawaii, so I guess I have a ton of packing and outfit planning to do.”

What will you wear?
“Aspen is all about boots and wool tights, and I actually designed this supercute long puffer jacket for the trip. For Hawaii, I am into long, really light sheer dresses; big sunglasses, and great bright-colored bags.”

What gift are you hoping to get this year?
“I want [my one-year-old daughter] Eloise to say ‘mama.’”

CATHERINE MALANDRINO

What do you have planned for the holidays?

“A French itinerary. First stop is Paris, where I will enjoy my friends for a special dinner at Alain Ducasse. Then I am off to a family reunion in the French Alps, with snow slopes and sitting around the fireplace to celebrate Christmas in the Alpe d’huez ski resort. I will then continue to the South of France to La Côte d’Azur to celebrate the new year overlooking the Mediterranean sea, drinking rose Champagne and eating oysters with my party friend.”

What will you wear?
“I will have three different looks. For Paris, my look will be a cocktail dress in silver metallic jersey with a large stone chain necklace. For the French Alps, I will wear an oversize cashmere sweater dress with pointelle leggings and a shaggy fur hat. For Saint Tropez, jersey harem pants with an embroidered jewel top and superhigh heels. My suitcase will be very eclectic.”

What gift are you hoping to get this year?
“An autographed basketball by LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Tony Parker and Allen Iverson to gift to my son.”
