Marc Jacobs: The Year Ahead

With the financial muscle of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton behind him, Marc Jacobs is quickly becoming an international household name.

Marc Jacobs continues to be on a creative and business roll. His spectacularly produced fashion shows and critically acclaimed clothes, however, would all be somewhat meaningless if he didn’t have the global business network to back up his imagination. With the financial muscle of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton behind him, he is quickly becoming an international household name. Today, Jacobs has 210 stores around the world, one-third of which are Collection boutiques. Last year, he opened Marc by Marc Jacobs stores in London, Lisbon, Dubai, Bahrain, Jeddah, Mexico City, Taipei and Seoul, and Collection boutiques in Bahrain, Jeddah, Singapore and Seoul, among others. This year, Collection stores are slated for Chicago, Copenhagen, Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi. Marc by Marc Jacobs stores will open in Milan, Riyadh, Qatar, Shanghai and Barcelona, among others. The Milan store, designed as usual by his go-to architect, Stephen Jaklitsch, features something new for the designer: a full-service cafe. Perfect for those who always wondered what a “Marc-uccino” would taste like.
