Clémence Poésy Strikes a Pose for G-Star

The Harry Potter sorceress is to front the denim firm's spring 2012 campaign.

LOS ANGELES — G-Star Raw is adding another famous face to its marketing campaign — French actress Clémence Poésy.

A 29-year-old willowy blonde with ice-blue eyes, Poesy is being featured in G-Star’s spring ad campaign. She joins the ranks of Elettra Wiedemann, Liv Tyler and Gemma Arterton, who have fronted the Dutch company’s campaigns in the past. Actor and director Vincent Gallo was the male counterpart in G-Star’s ads this fall and will repeat the stint for spring.

G-Star planned to introduce Poésy as its new female face on Tuesday night at the opening of its new store on Rodeo Drive. Poésy gained worldwide recognition for her role as the coquettish sorceress Fleur Delacour in the “Harry Potter” movie franchise.

Her acting experience came in handy for the G-Star ads. “I look at fashion shoots like making very short movies and telling a very short story,” she said.

Poésy is a fixture at Paris Fashion Week, sitting in the front row for brands such as Chanel and Balenciaga. Moreover, she posed with Anja Rubik and Chloë Sevigny as a trifecta of muses for the Chloé fragrance campaign in 2008. In that same year, she gave a Parisian twist to fall basics in Mikael Jansson’s series of celebrity portraits for Gap.

In her new gig for G-Star, Poésy was photographed by Anton Corbijn in Lisbon two months ago.

“I was so [pleased] to meet Anton,” she said. “We had a lot of fun over the two days, playing good music, which we danced along to. He dances as much as I do. He shoots film. It’s not like photo shoots that are all digital now, so there is lot of freedom and a lot of trust between him and I, as well as G-Star.”
