Just returned from my second African adventure, and nothing on the planet comes close. [My partner] Lance and I met up with a group of friends in Cape Town for the night at the new One & Only hotel. Superglam and great service. We had dinner at a wonderful seafood restaurant called Salt with amazing views of the ocean crashing on the rocks. Even with just one day in Cape Town, I managed a bit of shopping time and found great black matte crocodile boxes to store things in (I love the idea of a superluxe Container Store).

Off we went the next morning to Singita Lebombo in Kruger National Park. Perfect streamlined design in the middle of the bushlike living in a glass tree house. Every day 6 a.m., wake-up calls and out for your first game drive by 7. We saw the big five (lions, leopards, rhino, elephant and buffalo) within the first two days. Truly mind blowing. Chilled out midday at the spa and one day even ended up doing an impromptu yoga session in the bush next to the Jeep. Our friends slept under the stars on their terraces for a night but that’s too much nature for me. Found fabulous ebony bowls in cool, organic shapes. I can truly shop anywhere!

Next stop: Singita Boulders for more game drives and compulsive picture taking. We had 1,500 shots before editing. Ran into Lauren and John Veronis as they arrived — she looked so chic all in olive cashmere (South Africa is chilly in August). We had a private dinner in the bush lit by hundreds of kerosene lamps with a beautiful performance by a group of local boys. Wow! Our last game drive we saw four leopards in a tree feasting on an antelope. To top it off, saw a lion pride lunching on a wildebeest.

Back to New York to get ready for Fashion Week; talk about the jungle.
