Angelenos might be envied for their year-round sunny clime, but even they don't throw many alfresco fetes until summer. Now that it's finally near, they're venturing outside in droves.

First up, producer David and Tia Hoberman served Bellinis on their back patio Wednesday night for MaxMara's Nicola Maramotti, in town to sponsor the Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards. Their 60 guests, including Kristin Davis, Maggie Grace, Molly Sims and Lauren Graham, feasted on a meal prepared by Giada De Laurentiis, while Maramotti's friend Burt Bacharach tickled the ivories in the gallery. The same night, MGM chairman Harry Sloan and his wife, Florence, hosted an Yves Saint Laurent cruise fashion show in their backyard, complete with a huge floral logo floating in the pool. "I think we should at least keep the 'S,'" she joked. The fashion house clearly has a thing for pools: Thursday night, the Olympic-size one behind the Beverly Hills Hotel became the scene of an avant-garde water ballet at Center Dance Arts' first annual Pool Party, which the Paris house sponsored. "Well, you don't see that every day," said an impressed Barbara Walters to CDA founder Liane Weintraub. The only problem with a large body of water separating guests was the difficulty with table-hopping. "Just swim over and say hi," producer Leonard Goldberg called to Demi Moore.

"That won't be me," said the actress. "I'm not getting in there with this dress and this bag."

Meanwhile, over at the Women in Film Awards at the Beverly Hilton, Renée Zellweger picked up the 2007 Crystal Award for excellence in film and Emily Blunt won the MaxMara "Face of the Future" Award.

Across the country, Frida Giannini capped off her weeklong trip to New York with her own, albeit enclosed, party — a dinner in her honor hosted by Ingrid Sischy and Sandy Brant in the back of the Waverly Inn. The Gucci designer found herself surrounded by music legends such as Jon Bon Jovi and Mariah Carey (who arrived fashionably late with massive bodyguard in tow); Josh Hartnett, Emily Mortimer and Mamie Gummer, as well as indie rock darlings Joanna Newsom, Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos, Eleanor Friedberger, Peaches and Andrew Bird, who came straight from filming an appearance on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien." But the one Giannini was most excited to meet was Nick Rhodes. "I grew up in the era of Duran Duran," the music aficionado explained. "I know all of his songs." Indeed, she warbled one to the delighted rocker as they posed for pictures.
