CANNES — All good things must come to an end. Just ask Chloë Sevigny, who made her red carpet ascent for "Zodiac" on the arm of her co-star, Jake Gyllenhaal, last Thursday.

"We're both leaving tomorrow, which is a bummer, but I suppose we have to get back to real life," said Sevigny. Still, she found time to burn up the dance floor at Jimmy'Z later that night, as did Fendi chief executive Michael Burke, who discussed plans for the house's fashion show in October atop the Great Wall of China.

"I'm beginning to understand why nobody's attempted it before," said Burke of organizing a show on a wall that's a mere 12 feet wide. "Needless to say, everybody will be front row," he said as he enjoyed the nightclub's Fendi Casa-furnished terrace.

Meanwhile, over at the sumptuous Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, even James Bond would have had a hard time crashing Vanity Fair's bash Saturday night. "Let's just say it's a different universe: it's a case of the haves and the have-yachts," mused Bono before being whisked off in a limo to give a surprise concert on the red carpet. Later, revelers including Leonardo DiCaprio, Diane von Furstenberg, Jemima Khan, Tamara Mellon and Eva and Roberto Cavalli packed the terrace to take in the super-yachts moored beyond the hotel's infinity pool, which had been stamped with a red Vanity Fair logo.

Not everyone was awed by the celebrity crush. "I don't get starstruck; I'm more impressed by politicians, writers — or astronauts," said Kerry Washington, who's fresh from shooting her latest film, "Life Is Hot in Cracktown."

"I play a transgender prostitute so, you know, it's your average romantic comedy," she joked.

Meanwhile, Jessica Simpson, who was hanging out with Kid Rock, divulged she'll be adding another branch to her lifestyle business. "I'll be launching an organic bedding line this fall, and I promise it will be affordable," she said.
