Parties these days often seem cobbled together like a haphazard recipe where the ingredients don't quite mix (this fashion house, that charity, that premium vodka). But Tuesday night's Boucheron dinner honoring The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles was the exception.

The lavish affair, held at the Hancock Park home of gallerist Karyn Lovegrove and music manager Peter Leak, brought together art, music and fashion lovers connected through old friendships, not their networking publicists. Co-hosts Cameron Silver and Rachel Griffiths (East Side buddies and shopping confidantes) invited friends like Laura Wasser (the high-powered divorce attorney went to Hebrew school with Silver) and Balthazar and Rosetta Getty. "Balty" is Griffiths' "Brothers & Sisters" co-star and old friends with Natasha Gregson Wagner, who brought her pal Amanda Anka, who's also chummy with Lena Wald, who grew up with Amanda Goldberg, who brought her childhood pal China Chow.

Lovegrove invited artist Mari Eastman (who installed several paintings and painted some custom artwork right on the walls hours before the party), fellow PTA pal and Boucheron collector Debi Mazar and neighbor and restaurateur Caroline Styne (who's married to a gallerist, Michael Kohn).

Styne's Lucques catered the party — the menu of sea bass and salad was meant to be a light post-Thanksgiving repast. But she had other reasons for wanting to come: "My grandfather [composer Jule Styne] wrote 'Diamonds Are Forever' so I'm doomed to a life of lusting after jewelry."

After dinner, the crowd retreated to the living room for dessert and an acoustic performance by one of Leak's clients: folk singer Jesca Hoop. The intimate evening seemed to bring out the warm, fuzzy side of many of the couples, including Griffiths and husband Andy Taylor. "We just made out in the bathroom," she admitted.
