Frigid New York temperatures didn’t stop fashion’s most faithful from lining up along West Broadway on Friday morning to buy shoes from Sarah Jessica Parker’s debut shoe collection — and possibly meet the star in person.

The SJP footwear line — available at a pop-up shop created with the brand’s exclusive retail partner, Nordstrom— had consumers talking. Footwear News quizzed the crowd to find out why.

Josefina Poulsen, 18, New York
First saw the line:
What brought you out this morning? “I really like the Carrie Bradshaw style and don’t think there is a woman who didn’t wish she had Carrie’s shoe closet. It seemed really natural that SJP would have a line.”
SJP vs. other celebrity lines: “This line is much better than some other celebrity lines, which can look cheap and tacky. The Lauren Conrad line, for example, was low quality, so this one looks great in comparison.”

Catalina Yob, 21, Chile
First saw the line:
What brought you out this morning? “I love Sarah Jessica, so I wanted to come. I’m on vacation so this timing was really great. I haven’t seen the line yet, but I love her and love her style, so it must be a great collection.”

Meghan Vinola, 18, New York
First saw the line:
What brought you out this morning? “It made a lot of sense that Sarah would lend her name to footwear since she played Carrie Bradshaw, and shoes were so important for that [character].”
Any style you’re excited about? “I love the flats.”

Christine Gaul, 22, New Jersey
SJP vs. other celebrity lines:
“Compared with other lines, she has such a chic, unique and classic take on shoes. The styles and colors are really wonderful. I love the colorfulness of the line.”

Jyoti Rathi, 35, New York

What brought you out this morning? “I was interested to see how she would design the shoes because she’s known for her style and, of course, shoes.”
SJP vs. other celebrity lines: “The shoes aren’t dated at all. You can wear them year after year. The styles are classics, and I think that makes her really different.”

M.J. Song, 21, New York
First saw the line:
SJP vs. other celebrity lines:
“Compared to others it looks really great. I have seen the TV show ‘Sex and the City,’ and she has really great shoes there, and I just thought that it was smart she would pair up with Nordstrom to design her own line.”
