Capritouch Brings Custom Sandals to Bloomingdale’s

Visiting Italian cobblers will be on-site at the department store’s New York flagship this summer.

No vacation to Capri is complete without visiting one of the local sandal makers for a custom pair. This summer, that same experience is available on the isle of Manhattan, at Bloomingdale’s flagship, through Aug. 30.

For the first time, Capri Palace hotel has partnered with the retailer to offer its signature Capritouch custom handcrafted sandals to Big Apple shoppers. The Capritouch concession is adjacent to the fourth-floor designer shoe department. In eight to 12 minutes, visiting Italian cobblers from Capri make made-to-measure footwear on the premises. Customers can choose from more than 100 upper options and three soles, ranging from pancake flat to block heel, plus multiple-strap and Swarovski crystal elements.

Prices start at $175 and cap at $745, depending on the amount of embellishment.

“The beauty of this is we have different soles for different insteps,” said Sally Ross, president of SR Consulting Group, which orchestrated the shop-in-shop and relocation of the cobblers. “Or if someone is two different sizes, we can accommodate that — all feet are welcome here.” And she truly means it, with the offering extending to children’s shoes. “Moms and daughters have loved designing their own sandals together.”
