Vibram SpA has brought in some new blood.

The Italian parent company to Vibram USA has appointed Antonio Dus as a special adviser, reporting to president and managing director Marco Bramani.

In this new role, Dus will help develop new strategies for operations and product development.

Mike Gionfriddo, Vibram USA president and CEO, said the company is looking to take advantage of Dus’ experience as a footwear executive at the outdoor firms Garmont and Salewa.

“When you look at his international experience, he has great knowledge in marketing and product development,” Gionfriddo said. “These are areas we want to continue to focus on, so we can bring fresh ideas to our customer base.”

Although Dus will be based in Italy, Gionfriddo plans to work closely with the new adviser on several projects in the coming year.

“We have to give him a little bit of time to assess where the company is and what’s happening before we can make changes to the processes we’ve had for some time,” Gionfriddo said.

Areas Vibram will explore include new FiveFinger products for CrossFit, yoga and golf, as well as new compounds for the soling segment of the business.
