Two Ten Footwear Foundation is serving up record-breaking relief in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
As of Tuesday, the Waltham, Mass.-based nonprofit organization has delivered more than $261,700 in aid to 424 people affected by the storm that devastated northeastern parts of the country.
The amount of funds delivered in the past week not only surpassed Two Ten’s initial goal for funds but it also topped the amount of financial aid given during Hurricane Katrina.
“Sandy was especially cruel,” Two Ten President Neal Newman said. “We exceeded our appeal goal of $125,000 with the help of dozens and dozens of generous shoe people and footwear companies such as Asics, DSW, Mike Mooney and Footwear Unlimited employees, Larry and Pam Tarica, and Zappos and its employees.”
