Two Ten Launches Footwear Cares Month

Service initiative celebrates the footwear industry and local communities.

Two Ten Footwear Foundation’s community service event, National Footwear Cares Month, kicked off on Tuesday with a dramatically expanded lineup of service projects and a new title sponsor, Amazon Fashion.

After a successful inaugural Footwear Cares Week in 2013, Two Ten expanded the program to the entire month of April. More than 6,000 volunteers across the U.S. already have committed to a service project.

“The footwear industry’s support for this now-annual event is extraordinary. The eagerness of shoe companies to come together to provide much-needed aid in communities throughout the U.S., the same communities who support the footwear industry year after year, is very gratifying,” Stan Friedlander, GMM of footwear for Amazon Fashion, said in a statement.

During the first year, 68 shoe companies participated in the service program. Two Ten decided to broaden the event as part of its 75th anniversary celebration and set a goal for participation from 100 companies.

“National Footwear Cares Month is our industry's way of saying thank you to our communities, our schools, our local nonprofit organizations and the generations of families that support the footwear industry,” Two Ten President Neal Newman said in a statement. “With our fabulous partner, Amazon Fashion, and with the extraordinary support from the footwear community, National Footwear Cares Month 2014 is surpassing all expectations.”
