Sports Authority has a new marketing head.
The Englewood, Colo.-based sporting goods retailer announced yesterday that Paul Okimoto has been named chief marketing officer. Okimoto, formerly of RadioShack Corp., will be responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of Sports Authority’s marketing plans to drive sales both at stores and in e-commerce.
“Paul has a proven track record of leading innovative marketing strategies for a variety of national retailers and brands,” Darrell Webb, Sports Authority’s chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “His expertise in acquiring and retaining profitable customers and [in identifying] new market opportunities and strategic partnerships will be extremely valuable to Sports Authority as we focus on continued growth over the long term.”
Before accepting his current position, Okimoto was VP of marketing for RadioShack and held previous positions at The Nielsen Co., AT&T Wireless and Proctor & Gamble.
