Skechers USA Inc. is picking up the pace on its charity efforts.

The Manhattan Beach, Calif.-based firm hosted its fifth annual Pier to Pier Friendship Walk last weekend and raised $1 million for The Friendship Circle, a nonprofit that helps children with special needs.

“We started this event with the idea that if everyone does a little, we all benefit a lot. On Sunday, I saw giving in action. I saw our community and globally recognized companies giving for our kids,” Skechers President Michael Greenberg said in a statement.

According to Greenberg, The Steel Partners Foundation, an Austin, Colo.-based nonprofit, donated $73,000 to help the firm hit the million-dollar mark.

Sponsored by Nickelodeon, the event drew high-profile attendees including Jimmy Kimmel, Brooke Burke-Charvet and Tommy Lasorda, among others.

“It’s amazing for me to see so many people rally together, lending a helping hand and helping one another for something that’s so important,” Burke-Charvet, a longtime Skechers marketing partner, said in a statement.
