Sexy shoes are back.
Footwear News and Saks Fifth Avenue kicked off their third “Sexy Shoes” competition today, unveiling 25 finalists on the 10022-SHOE floor at the retailer’s New York flagship — and all are vying to be named sexiest.
Designer looks from such top names as Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Nicholas Kirkwood, Valentino, Tabitha Simmons, Brian Atwood and Giuseppe Zanotti were selected by the FN editors.
“The 2012 ‘Sexy Shoes’ competition features designs by some of today’s leading footwear talent. With such an accomplished group up for this year’s award, we cannot wait to see who will come away with the top honor,” said Michael Atmore, editorial director for FN. “Once again, the competition has been a great partnership with our friends at Saks Fifth Avenue.”
The winner of the contest will be decided by the public. Online voting starts today at Footwearnews.com/sexyshoes and will continue through Oct. 11. Consumers can vote up to once a day and with each vote are entered to win the ‘Sexy Shoes’ grand prize: a $10,000 Saks Fifth Avenue shopping spree. The second place winner gets a $1,500 gift card.
Customers also can view and shop the looks on the recently revamped shoe floor at Saks, or online at Saks.com.
“This year’s ‘Sexy Shoes’ competition has one of the most exciting designer matchups to date,” said Ron Frasch, president and chief merchandising officer at Saks Fifth Avenue. “We are thrilled to partner with Footwear News for the third year in a row on such an exciting program, especially as shoe designs are becoming increasingly innovative and artistic.”
FN created a limited-edition magazine showcasing the looks available at the store. An Aurasma technology feature allows consumers to view exclusive digital content by scanning the app icon on the printed pages from their iPhone, iPad and Android.
Past competition winners include Valentino and Christian Louboutin.
