Schwartz & Benjamin Inc. will soon add a new trophy to its mantel.
The firm, which is the footwear licensee for brands including Diane Von Furstenberg, Seven for All Mankind and Juicy Couture, will be honored by the American Apparel & Footwear Association. It is set to receive the Footwear Brand of the Year Award at the 34th annual American Image Awards in New York on May 7.
“All of us at Schwartz & Benjamin are very flattered to receive this honor,” said CEO Danny Schwartz, who will accept the award. “It is wonderful to even be considered.”
Among the other six awardees, Kate Spade New York, which is also licensed by Schwartz & Benjamin, will receive the Lifestyle Brand of the Year Award.
“Of our portfolio of brands, Kate Spade Footwear had the largest growth in terms of volume in 2011,” Schwartz said. He added that the company also is looking into other new collaborations, as well as cultivating its roster of brands heading into 2012. “We are exploring other possible ventures and we have a growing private-label business that we want to continue to nourish,” he said.
Other AAFA honorees this year include Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, who will receive the Humanitarian Award; Warnaco Group Inc., winner of the Excellence in Global Leadership Award; designer Yeohlee Teng, who will be given the Fashion Maverick Award; and Tanger Outlets Inc., receiving the Excellence in Retail Award.
