Rebecca Taylor's Good Taste

The designer talks Fashion Week — and survival during the busy time.

After more than 30 runway shows for her eponymous label, Rebecca Taylor still gets excited about Fashion Week. “I love the buzz that fills the city, the anticipation that surrounds the new collections and the overall feeling of excitement that comes with being in the midst of New York Fashion Week,” said the New Zealand-born designer. For her fall ’13 offering, the designer sent boots and caged sandals down the catwalk to accompany her modern feminine looks. “[The shoes are] really a natural extension of our ready-to-wear collection,” Taylor said. “Accessories have become such an important aspect in fashion, and being able to offer shoes allows our consumer full access to the Rebecca Taylor lifestyle.” But before Saturday’s runway show began, Taylor was keeping it together thanks to a little help from her loved ones. “My mum flies in from New Zealand a few weeks before every show to support me,” she said, adding that her three children also get her through the chaos leading up to the big event. “They really help keep it in perspective.”
