Paul Andrew Reveals His Inspiration

The designer takes cues from Henri Matisse's cut-out art for his latest collection.

Though he spends much time in his New York headquarters, Paul Andrew draws influences from around the globe. For resort ’15, the designer — who was recently named a top 10 contender for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund — took French artist Henri Matisse as his muse, adopting some of the painter’s cutout motifs and vibrant colors. “I tried not to take the inspiration too literally,” Andrew said. Here, he shares the key elements that define the resort offering.
