Toms Shoes has lost one of its key shoe givers.
The company recently announced that its VP of sales, Pete Ferrer, unexpectedly passed away at his home on Oct. 14.
Ferrer, 50, joined the company in 2006 and had previously held executive posts at Nike and Reebok.
For his part, founder Blake Mycoskie expressed in a statement the deep impact Ferrer had on the company and its success.
“From my first fateful meeting with Pete, my life, and Toms, was never the same,” Mycoskie said. “His passion, love for life and positive attitude carried us through many of the trials we faced early on, and his leadership and knowledge led us to great retail success and to many children receiving a much-needed pair of shoes. To say Pete will be missed would be an understatement. He will always be remembered and his legacy and spirit will live with us every day.”
