Longtime shoe executive, Raymond Sessa, died on Aug. 18. He was 86 years old.
Sessa launched his career as a buyer for John Wanamaker in Philadelphia. He later moved into wholesale, landing a job at Brown Shoe Co., where he ran several brands. He went on to join Wolverine World Wide Inc., where he was in charge of the Hush Puppies brand. After a move overseeing Stride Rite’s Keds and Grasshopper divisions, he rejoined Wolverine — his last move before retiring.
A keen eye for product also led Sessa to develop 14 U.S. patents.
He is survived by his wife Nancy; son Scott Sessa, president of Minnetonka Moccasin; son Todd Sessa; brothers Norman and Louis, as well as grandchildren.
