The in crowd knows Nicole Chavez — and now so do shoe fans. The stylist has designed the Shoemint.com line with longtime friend and client Rachel Bilson since 2011, when their venture launched with Steven Madden Ltd. In September, the site will debut its first collaboration — with Seaofshoes.com blogger Jane Aldridge — an exclusive style named the Jane. “It’s a fun way to get a different perspective,” said Chavez. “[ShoeMint] has been a great project that I thoroughly enjoy working on. And I was always a fan of Steve Madden.” But Chavez still finds time to assist such celebrity clients as Katherine Heigl and Jessica Simpson. Up next, she will style Kristen Bell for her gig as co-host of the Country Music Television Awards on June 5, when Bell will undergo 10 wardrobe changes. And while Chavez often picks top footwear names for her clients — including personal favorites Jimmy Choo, Giuseppe Zanotti and Gianvito Rossi — she tries to throw some ShoeMint styles into the mix, too. “It’s always fun when my clients compliment my shoes, so I’ll bring a few key pairs with me [to a job],” she said. Here, Chavez sounds off on the key to relaxation and her obsession with 1980s cult favorite “Sixteen Candles.”

TV show I always DVR:
“‘Mad Men.’ Obviously, the costumes are huge for me, and it’s a show that lets you escape.”

My ultimate relaxation:
“Being in my backyard in the hammock, with my fashion magazines and a margarita in hand.”

The movie I always quote is...
“‘Sixteen Candles.’ That was my favorite movie growing up. I watched it maybe 100 times. I was just thinking about Long Duk Dong the other day. It always just pops into my head.”

Favorite shopping destination: “I’m obsessed with 10 Corso Como [in Milan]. I dream about that store.”

Best shoe moment for Rachel Bilson: “She was in New York last year for an event and wore a blue-and-red Phillip Lim dress, paired with color-blocked Christian Louboutins — white on the toe with black and nude. They are the cutest shoes I’ve ever seen.”
