London College of Fashion and Kurt Geiger raised more than $500,000 at the inaugural Fashion Matters gala in support of Cordwainers at LCF last week.
The event, hosted by LCF head Professor Frances Corner, Kurt Geiger CEO Neil Clifford
and Kurt Geiger Creative Director Rebecca Farrar-Hockley, celebrated 125 years of Cordwainers.
All funds raised at the Sept. 6 event at Mansion House in London will go toward scholarships, bursaries and equipment for footwear and accessory design students.
Guests at the event included LCF alumni Jimmy Choo, Nicholas Kirkwood and Georgina Goodman, as well as Whistles CEO Jane Shepherdson, James Caan and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, in her first appearance in her three-year patronage of LCF.
“This year marks 50 years of Kurt Geiger. An anniversary is naturally a time to reflect but it is also important to act. Our partnership with Cordwainers at London College of Fashion is an investment in the future and the immense talent coming from Britain,” Clifford said in a statement. “We would like to see more employers collaborate with educators in partnerships like ours for the future of Fashion Matters and the next generations of our industry.”
