Downtown Las Vegas continues to get a facelift, thanks to Tony Hsieh and his team. Which must-visit spots have popped up recently? Jeanne Markel, Zappos’ director of brand experience, gives Spy the scoop.

1. COMMONWEALTH ( 525 E. Fremont St.)
“It has brought a stylish new social scene to the growing downtown area. Inspired by pre-Prohibition cocktails and architecture, it’s a swanky haunt with plenty of art.”

2. THE LEARNING VILLAGE ( 715 Fremont St.)
“Imagine every day of the week being able to listen to the interesting guests in town, along with local community leaders giving talks (think TED, Summit Series, etc.) on a vast array
of subjects.”

3. LA COMIDA (100 6th St.)
“If you’re in the mood for great Mexican food in a casual atmosphere, coupled with terrific service, swing by La Comida.’’

4. GOLD SPIKE (217 Las Vegas Blvd. N.)
“It’s a fantastic neighborhood hangout. Outside, there are a lot of great couches and furniture, giant Jenga and beer-pong games, and a couple of fire pits.”

5. WORK IN PROGRESS ( 317 S. 6th St.)
“Its tiered memberships provide access to various types of office environments, amenities, conference rooms, etc. The biggest draw is the ability to collaborate.’’
