Alexandre Birman, Brad Goreski and Valentino creative directors stopped by New York’s top retailers last weekend.

Alexandre Birman made a personal appearance at Saks Fifth Avenue last weekend with friend and celebrity stylist Brad Goreski. In between autographing styles for his fans, Birman hit the sales floor to help customers shop his fall ’11 collection. “It’s in my blood,” said the designer. “I’m a really commercial person, and I love to sell. Thankfully, I’m not shy at all.” On hand to support him was Goreski, who told Spy that Birman is not only a great friend but one of his favorite shoe designers. “The shoes are amazing quality, the design is fantastic, and he’s the nicest person,” he said. The former Rachel Zoe employee also gushed about his current obsession with the Prada espadrille brogues he was wearing in white, but owns in four other colors. “I’m a huge lover of accessories, especially shoes,” said Goreski. “They’re my weakness.” While the stylist was willing to spill about his favorite Fashion Week footwear looks thus far, he was mum when it came to discussing his upcoming Bravo reality show. What should his fans expect now that he’s gone solo? “Lots,” he hinted. “Lots you haven’t seen before.”

Boot Buddies
Valentino creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli christened the new Bergdorf Goodman shoe floor on Saturday to fete the debut of their Valentino Boot Couture Collection. The event at the retailer’s newly remodeled shoe salon was the pair’s first appearance for shoes, but maybe not the last. The couture boot offering features navy, chocolate and toffee hand-painted python boots and sheer lace boots with leather trim, all in limited-edition runs. And Chiuri’s favorite? “Really, I have a big problem because I love boots in lace, but also nude,” the designer joked about not being able to pick just one style for fall. She was quite sure, though, about her love for Bergdorf’s new shoe floor. “As a woman, when I’m here, I need to shop,” she said. Piccioli elaborated: “We are obsessed with iconicism,” he said. “Bergdorf is the store [for] shoes in New York.”
