Foot Petals is welcoming Karina Smirnoff to the team. The brand is set to unveil its first celebrity partnership with the professional dancer for fall, including exclusive editions of the Tip Toes and Heavenly Heelz cushion styles, marked by a high heel logo by Smirnoff and her KS initials. “I have been wearing Foot Petals in my shoes for years, not only on the red carpet and when I dance but to make everyday shoes more comfortable,” said the “Dancing With the Stars” pro. “A lot of people ask me how I’m able to walk and dance in high heels all the time and I tell them the truth, ‘Without Foot Petals, it’s not fun.’” And Foot Petals thought that Smirnoff was the perfect fit, too. “It was a very natural and organic partnership,” said Mistala Mooney, marketing manager for the brand. “It was exciting to collaborate and create different patterns and designs that reflect her outgoing and creative personality and style.”
It’s no secret Paul Andrew is a fan of photography — specifically, of Andrew Zuckerman. For fall '13, Andrew took inspiration from Zuckerman's richly detailed 2009 book displaying more than 200 images of birds. But for spring '14, the designer is expressing his admiration in a more literal way, with a pump featuring a print created in collaboration with the photographer. "For Christmas, a friend gave me [Zuckerman's] newer book, which was all flowers," Andrew told Spy. "I had been thinking to do a floral print, but I was having issues finding an image that really worked. Lo and behold, his were perfect. I plucked up the courage and called [Zuckerman] out of the blue." It turned out the artist had heard about Andrew's fall collection and was eager to join forces. "He was really open to working with us," Andrew recalled. "The collaboration has been one of our best-selling shoes for spring." And there’s a good chance we'll see more art influences in future Paul Andrew collections. "My showroom is dangerously close to a Rizzoli store," he joked.
