Fashion’s Finest
It was a major moment at the Met. The Metropolitan Museum of Art welcomed top celebrities and fashion faces last week for its annual gala to celebrate the work of Charles James and inaugurate the Anna Wintour Costume Center. And, of course, the footwear crowd was there for the party. Here, designers share their best-dressed list and behind-the-scenes scoops with Spy.

Tabitha Simmons
Favorite moment:
“There were so many incredible highlights from this year. It was lovely to see all the gentlemen in white tie. They all looked so chic.”
Best dressed: “Suki Waterhouse, Karen Elson and, of course, Beyoncé looked amazing. They all incorporated their own twist on Charles James.”
Shoe style: “I wore a Dolce & Gabbana platform Mary Jane.”

Tamara Mellon
Favorite moment:
“It was like being transported to a bygone era, like living in a Cecil Beaton photograph.”
Best dressed: “I loved Beyoncé, Rihanna, Hamish Bowles, Arizona Muse, Giovanna Battaglia and Karen Elson.”
Shoe style: “I chose my knee-high Scandal shoe. I loved the unexpected honeycomb visible through the chiffon.”

Kenneth Cole
Favorite moment:
“Attending with my daughter Emily as my date.”
Best dressed: “Emily Cole, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds and Frank Ocean.”
Shoe style: “A black patent-leather rubber-soled lace-up sneaker.”

Todd’s Time
Todd Snyder is sneaking some sneakers into his collection. The designer, who is a nominee for the CFDA Swarovski Award for Menswear, is collaborating with PF Flyers for fall. “I wanted to blur the lines between the dress and sport shoes,” said the designer, who also is crafting his pre-fall collection, inspired by midcentury modern architecture. To celebrate the CFDA nod, City Gym hosted a soirée last week, where friend Matt Bomer was on hand. The star of upcoming HBO series “The Normal Heart” talked about his favorite spring buy: a Dries Van Noten floral shirt. “I made fun of my brother for years about his Tommy Bahama [floral] shirts, and here I am with one I love. I guess we will be twins now,” he quipped. Meanwhile, Andy Cohen, who helped host the event Tuesday, said he is ready to break away from the parka and boots. On his hot list: Havaianas he discovered at the brand’s Meatpacking District pop-up shop.
