The Simpson and Camuto clans have some strong ties.
“I have my family and I have the Simpson family,” said Vince Camuto while at a New York event hosted by Ashlee Simpson, who stars in her sister Jessica Simpson’s fall ad campaign. “I’m doing my own emails now and I’ve never had so many friends in my life [asking to be a part of the Simpson venture].”
“Jess made you popular,” quipped Tina Ann Drew, the Simpsons’ mom, who was also on hand at the event to fête the fall line and campaign.
Camuto said the teams also enjoy time out in California, where they catch up and talk about the collections over Mexican food and margaritas.
So what’s next for the booming business? “We’re definitely a lifestyle brand, so there are a lot of other categories we want to expand on,” said Drew. “We would like Jess to be in your blender and in your bed.”
And it doesn’t stop there, according to Camuto. “There is a lot of room for expansion. ... [We’re thinking about] motorcyles, boats and a Jessica car,” he joked.
