In 2008, John Varvatos preserved the spirit of New York’s famed CBGB club by converting it into a store that plays off its musical past. Last Wednesday, the designer marked five years in the Bowery space with a rocking evening that featured electric performances from Gary Clark Jr. (at center) and Vintage Trouble, and included a cameo from ZZ Top’s bearded frontman, Billy Gibbons (far right). The night capped a busy week for Varvatos, who days earlier opened his first store in Miami’s South Beach.
