FN Pick: Sonny's Big Surprise

Friends surprised the Pentland's exec with an annual $35,000 Two Ten Footwear Foundation scholarship in his name.

Surprise, surprise. Sonny Shar, the charismatic non-executive chairman of Pentland USA, thought he was going to dinner with a friend last Tuesday. Turns out, a few friends had something bigger in mind: a surprise party to unveil an annual $35,000 Two Ten Footwear Foundation scholarship in Shar’s name. Brown Shoe Co. Chairman and CEO Diane Sullivan organized the secret shindig, held at the Sam Edelman Soho store. The high-powered guest list also included Bob Campbell, Sam and Libby Edelman, Debbie Ferrée, Neal Newman, Bob Goldman, Steve Hill and Carrie Rubin, among others.
