FN Pick: Manolo in Manhattan

The designer showed off his fall '14 collection at a Chelsea Gallery

What a debut. After more than 40 years in business, Manolo Blahnik held his first New York Fashion Week presentation on Feb. 9 at the Paul Kasmin Gallery in Chelsea. Not surprisingly, he put on quite a show. The film buff unveiled four video shorts, in collaboration with Michael Roberts, that took attendees back to his childhood, to his Italian factory and then inside a Victorian ghost story. As usual, though, his cinematic shoes were the real stars. Blahnik’s favorite? A green-and-burgundy pump with a curtain tassel.
