“American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks is looking to break out in the new musical drama “Sparkle,” mirroring the success of another Idol, Jennifer Hudson. But for all her promise in the 1960s-era movie, which opened Friday, the most-talked-about aspect of the film is that it’s the last chance to see — and hear — performances by Whitney Houston, who died in February. Last Tuesday, Sparks hit the premiere at the Tribeca Grand Hotel in red-hot Giuseppe Zanotti pumps and made the promotional rounds, speaking about the pop diva’s long-lasting impact.
