The tennis world wondered: Is it the end of an era?

He’s been the consummate professional athlete over the years, decorating himself with a record number of major championships and big sponsorships — Nike among them. But last week the tennis world was buzzing as Roger Federer lost in straight sets in the quarterfinals at the French Open. Was he simply outgunned or was it the end of an era? Though Federer lost on court, it was still a pretty good week off court as Forbes ranked the tennis great No. 2 among the world’s highest-paid athletes, earning $71.5 million in the last 12 months.
