Sneakers with suits provided the look of choice at Foot Locker Inc.’s annual On Our Feet fundraiser, benefiting the Foot Locker Foundation's college funding initiatives.
The black-tie event, held at New York’s Gotham Hall on Tuesday night, brought in a mix of athlete and celebrity guests, who came to support higher education. Proceeds from the evening's silent auction went to support causes including company's Scholar Athletes program and the United Negro College Fund.
“As a company, one of the things we want to do is give back to the community,” said Foot Locker CEO Ken Hicks, who chose to wear a pair of black Air Jordans to the event. “To be able to give young people the opportunity to go to college and improve their position in life is a wonderful thing.”
Other attendees also showed off their sportiest footwear. “I've never really thought about wearing tennis shoes with a tuxedo before tonight,” quipped actor Mark Consuelos, wearing a pair of Pierre Hardy sneakers, adding that he supports helping younger people finance college. “Whenever you have a chance to help someone out who wouldn't normally have the chance to go to school — that's beyond important.”
