Chinese Laundry is testing its hula-hoop skills.
The brand hosted a contest over the weekend for Miss USA and Miss Universe pageant queens, challenging the women to a hula-hoop competition led by fitness expert Richard Simmons.
Fifty-one contestants competed — all wearing the Drastic wedge by Chinese Laundry — before Lissette Garcia, Miss Florida USA 2011, was crowned the winner for her skill level.
“We are proud that we had the opportunity to host the competition with fitness guru to the stars Richard Simmons,” said Stewart Goldman, Chinese Laundry EVP.
For her win, Garcia was awarded the opportunity to donate to the charity of her choice (the American Cancer Society) and was given a Chinese Laundry shopping spree.
Los Angeles-based Chinese Laundry became the official sponsor of the Miss USA and Miss Universe contests in January of this year. The Miss USA pageant is scheduled to air June 19 on NBC.
