André Assous is revealing his inner artist for spring ’15 with a collection of shoes and accessories inspired by his personal artwork.

According to the New York-based designer, he based the collection on an abstract shoe painting titled “Shoe Bizz” that he created in 1996.

“When I [had] time, I painted,” said Assous, who now has only eight of the more than 30 pieces he made over the years (he gave the rest to friends).

For the debut collection Assous reproduced sections of the watercolor that features a rendering of his now-iconic espadrilles, Western-inspired boots and slip-ons.

The designs appear on five shoe styles, including a canvas espadrille, rope-bottom wedge sandal, tailored pump and moccasin. In addition, a matching tote bag and shoeboxes incorporate the whimsical artwork.

Retailing from $165 to $275, the line will debut at the upcoming FFANY show.
