LOS ANGELES — Nike recently brought together its performance, sustainability and community outreach initiatives with the release of the $110 N7 Huarache basketball shoe, which is part of Nike’s eco-friendly Considered program.

To celebrate the triple play, the Swoosh threw a party and sneak peak of the new line on Oct. 22 at House of Hoops in Los Angeles’ Beverly Center. All proceeds from the sale of the N7 line, which goes on sale Nov. 7 at 33 Nike Factory Stores and on the web, will directly fund youth sports in Native American communities, with the goal of improving healthy lifestyles and positive social change.

“We saw the need in Native American communities for product that would help get people more actively engaged in sport and physical activity,” said Sam McCracken, general manager for the Native American Business. “We realized we could make an impact, and the response has been enormous.”

Also on hand to celebrate the new launch was actress Stacey Thunder, who is also a board member of the Nike N7 Fund.
